Apparently this is what happens with nothing pisses me off

It's SUNDAY. The last time I posted wast THURSDAY! Apparently I don't have much that I'm driven to say when nothing's gotten me upset.  Noted.

So one of the things I'm in to is Shadowrun. I'm not as into it as I once was, but for a good while it was a major portion of my recreation.  I recently came across an apparently unread copy of "Born to Run" by Stephen Kenson, the first of several books covering Kellan Colt and her Adventures in the Big City.  It was pretty good.

This is out of what I think of  as the 'second wave' of Shadowrun novels.  It's got a Wizkids copyright of 2005.  That was 10 years ago.  Also, it was like 10 years after I had my first introduction to the setting.  If you are new to the setting, this book makes a pretty good jumping off point.  The character is new to Seattle, so a number of things that she learns actually turn into a nice primer on the setting for a new reader.  It's pretty light and enjoyable, though some of the dialogue seems forced.  I'm almost entirely certain it's because Kenson's trying to make it accessible to new readers without dragging down the flow of the narrative.  Imagine trying to explain an important technical part of your job to a room full of people, some of which came to this meeting not even knowing what your title was, while the others are already pretty familiar with the tasks even though they do them slightly differently.

Anyway, I killed that book this week.  Between  the daily commute and the few hours at the laundromat, it didn't stand a chance.  Today I read "Manxome Foe" by John Ringo and Travis Taylor. It's the third book of the Looking Glass series.  I picked up a barely read copy of the second book a couple weeks ago and I liked it enough that I felt the need to get the next one.  And you read that earlier sentence right: TODAY I read it. I guess it's time to track down book 4.

I also spent a bunch of hours watching Star Trek DS9 and sewing. I'm working on a silly little project for a party in June that I just might take pictures of so we can all laugh at me together.
